Another day late

Ok so I started this post yesterday and when I went back to work on/finish it was gone so meh lol (get to meet the new person at work and I'm getting quirky) plenty else on my mind

So I was able to clean out my indoor greenhouses some again and I lost my strawberries not only that I found a few bugs in them (aphids spider mites and the little fruit flies that I know) they were mostly in the bigger so again quarantine mode for it and I have atleast one bay that has a tiny tiny root forming I think! That's exciting I think! Even tho it means semi soon I'll need to move them out of the margarita plastics (def buying them all next year at the ace clearance sale really like them!)

So on to the pics?

Here is the little greenhouse as you can see I'm not giving up on that one plant (because it's still somewhat alive!)

The bottom shelf (the goji seeds are on top now there berries that just didn't dry out instead they got moldy so I'm trying to just grow them) the Thai pepper (back left) is doing really well! And so are the tomatoes nearly time to get them each in there own starter containers (prolly cups like the pepper is in) the peppers don't look to be doing so good ATM namely because most have lost a lot of leaves I may just pull a few plants inside for the winter or may go most inside don't know ATM

Middle shelf --as you can see there doing pretty well some I'm more corious about now then I was before but bay and goji (left side not the pot that's the dragon fruit) are doing well and unlike the seeds this goji I can still get clippings from the seeds tasted more like a sweet pepper these were more round those oval these tasted more sweet will be fun to see what happens next year! (Mommas are getting protected for the winter)

Here's the top (didn't realise that pic was just that bad!) hopefully y'all can see *something*?

Do you see that little green? That's part of why I don't just toss stuff that's a mint if it went outside it could possibly be worse then creeping Charlie with our yard! --so big greenhouse time?

Most got atleast a little trim there was a fair bit dead in there too

Did leave some dead cause I was being lazy but most look atleast "ok" the rose is growing another something the fruits seem moderately ok

A mess of onions I'm debating cutting them down or not we will see also in the back you can see my tiny tom tomatoes there not doing too well but there atleast alive!

Better shot of the tomatoes

My bay mommas and there still growing! They must love the greenhouse! And as a little "+" to me I can see there's pooled water so I know they don't need any yet

Lemon grass walking onions and rosemary (hiding in the back) you can clearly see the lemon grass has grown from where I trimmed it to so I would think it too is really liking the environment!

Some stalks it's nearly doubled in size!

And another lol I had it just below the green bar that is pushing it back right now

Now to figure what I'm doing with the peppers as I can't pull the pots inside (huge ass fit from mom!) so def doing datil in and likely doing a good few more will update as it comes closer have to get some sleep before work tho

Ready for winter?

Well it's nearly Samhain here about a month to go which means winter is just around the corner

Yesterday I got some pics of my outside garden I had planned on the greenhouses too but that didn't quite work out so well so hopefully I'll get those pics today and I know I have plenty of seeds to harvest as well when it's time (mostly from Basil's) I so have a couple saved pepper seeds as well I haven't tagged or saved any tomato seeds (worse year then I thought it'd be!)

The mints --gotta get more cuttings and save the flowerheads once they die think ill just get all the cuttings I can at that point try to save *everyone*

Herb as you can see I have pulled the bay some rosemary the lemon verabena has died as has I think the lettuce leaf basil but hopefully the rest of the Basil's produce seeds

Salsa garden window box and all that fun stuff --the lemon grass was pulled from the window box (what a PAIN that was!) I also got a bunch of pineapple sage and some reg sage cuttings as well

Another of last shot showing more of the goji --it had really good sweet round berries the outher had more oval shaped berries that tasted more like a sweet pepper in a way sadly I wasn't able to get seeds from eighter plant yet but I may have seedlings and I know I'll have cuttings (berries got moldy so added water letting seeds grow if they do)

Herb planter tomatoes and peppers (and yes I'm trying to hide my shadow)

Bad shot! Tomatoes and citronella

The goji that tasted more like a pepper

Another bad shot of the citronella and the fun stuff

Tomatoes and peppers (you think I'm kidding when I say I have too much shade? Therese shots are from around noon!)

The raspberry --it's an heirloom and while I don't know the name off the top of my head unlike the goji it's staying put right there this winter it survived last winter in a smaller pot it should be fine in that this year --also mom took the law mower to a part of it!

View from the side by the raspberry --that little planter on the cement in front of the tyre is an area I know as 90% shade that's the south side of the garden

Possible raspberry/wine berry looks similar people claim it's similar so I'm gonna let it grow and see what it becomes --there were blueberries in there I'll get some new pots for them this year with a grape pot too (err 2013-2014 winter so growing in 2014) will just have to see what happens think I'll try a less water/drainage balance but I know we can flood just look at the herb pot!

And here's an update on the peace rose not flowering but is doing well and still minimal thorns which is really confusing me lol

Well enjoy guys I'll have another one up by the end of the day with the greenhouses I think

Some plant care and planning a trip

Ok so I got to pull everyone out and get a look at everyone in both greenhouses it wasn't long ago I braught them in but I now def notice there's a bit more really dry dirt I left on the dry side but not super dry so I watered everyone a bit as well while I was looking at them

I found out I put in a goji cutting upside down but somehow it's still growing ok(?!) I think that was the one that had the persistent mold on the tip which is corious

Everyone got atleast some water apart from the dragon fruit my fresh cuttings all look like there doing good! I've also found out via google bay can take a year plus for decent roots! My cuttings are gonna be in there long-term I was thinking a few months at most! But my goji may be ready to come out in another month or 2! So we will see how that goes I'm also taking the seeds that had mold on the fruit and letting them germinate if they do if not meh lol

And my lemon grass and the ones that were braught in are looking good they are showing some signs of growth as well the walking onions I pulled from the sand still look atleast alive! And I'm thinking I should cut the tops from most of the walking onions so I can get stronger plants possibly lol

Another thing I want to do is try getting some of the thousands (900?) of onion sets I braught growing this winter even if to see what will happen!

And I do hope most of these survive the winter! Then ill have that much more to start the summer with and that much less ill need to buy! And the plants next winter should be ready too as may be in its memory lol

Also I'm starting to plan a vacation for next year y'all may or may not know this about me but I love planes (some much of my stuff is green as a toss out to that lol) a good friend is (well was) a pilot for one of the best flyers in the world they have done a lot of cool things and they got me hooked on planes combined with living near kmke it was likely the natural thing to happen lol especially sence I like cars and fixing stuff

So the vacation is gonna be my 1 week off where I work (once I've been there 3 years I can get 2 paid ATM just 1 but that's all I need!) and I'm gonna go camping up at airventure last week July first week August so ill need to buy *everything* ill need for that trip I just have a survival and med pack some snacks in my car and a couple more things here or there that I don't know if they will work or not yet I'm trying to work out all the details as well so we will have camping stuff after that we can use for future trips as well but we have to balance use ability with practicality in our tiny house as well lol oh and did I mention it will be just me going by myself? I've been up to airventure 2 times with mom I plan on having my camera and 16 or so gigs of memory (1 8 gig 2 4 gig cards I think I just got the 2 and only tested them once) I think in total gear and everything this year may host about a thousand dollars and it will be my longest freeway trip on my own as well with my car (no way I'm taking my moms! I know my car really well and add to that I can pull crap in mine I don't feel ok doing with hers plus I don't know about maintence or that I mean I could call Dj and ask they'll do 90% of my car too unless it needs Kia then it's going Kia lol --I still swear mines a boat on the inside tiny on the outside and nimble the whole way! I love it!) but it's just to get there and back the rest of the way will be walking my ass off (literally state fair or summerfest times 2 and all planes everywhere you look!) the whole way which will be part of why I want an air bed to take with and ill need to try setting up the tent myself a couple times too so I am loosely familiar (most are 2-person it looks but I won't ask help unless I need it! Lol!) luckily we will have camping stuff after this and add to it will be that much cheaper if I go again and camp because I won't have to buy everything lol so wish me luck there!

Got some in

So it was 40-44 range on the way home which is just *way* too cold for the stuff I was gonna bring in (I know I run a little warm but I could still see my breath!) so I decided time to bring the cuttings in I no longer cared about the frauds saying was gonna be 80s coming up

This is about the thing I braught in to try to overwinter -- there's tons of tomato suckers that I cut off (I know what there good for!) some pepper branches even a plant or 3! My 2 bay plants my lemon grass the Egyptian onions and whatever else I could get clippings of (outsides looking more barren!)

Wow that's dark! But that's the top

Still kinda dark wow --middle

And bottom of the little greenhouse

Top (yup they could use a watering)

And bottom of the bigger one! -- those cups were .50 at wall greens and suprisingly they are the *perfect* size after all

So I get to closer to frost get the 2 goji plants sorted and ATM I'm waiting on seeds from my plants! I hope I get it soon! Lol

Greenhouse cleanup

So I've had a few of those bugs here/there and I had some mold stuff I've been trying to treat the bugs ill deal with even tho mom hates them I'm trying to balance airflow for a better greenhouse and I think once that ratio is good the bugs will die off least that's what I'm hoping lol

So quite a few we're replanted I couldn't be bothered to with the rest of the walking onions tho and I should try starting a few of my onion sets as well just to see how they'll do a good few we're replanted tho

Also I am using expand-n-grow for the new dirt and I'm not putting any wet/expanded back in the bag just because lol

So on to the pics?

Most of what was in there that's still alive is on the top (I know bad pics thought looked better when I took them!)

There's the onions I was gonna replant all of them but I decided I was being too lazy lol

Strawberries and one replanted walking onion

More glare --bay goji more strawberries herbs like mad lol think citronella and pot chilli on that shelf too

And there's the top shelf as you can see some are in fact missing or moved around --being my first time really "doing this" (I tried to start seeds in the bigger a few years back total failure!) so it's a pretty big learning curve I think ATM

Also I have a bunch of suckers on some tomato plants that I'm thinking ill use them to try to keep the plants alive over the winter it's something a friend mentioned (saving cuttings but I think the suckers are perfect) we will certainly see how that goes

Super overdue update

Ok so I worked 6 days in a row (not common that I recall) and had 2 days off this being the 2nd I have no clue what to expect these next few days just that I may volunteer to be in the back at this rate

So my favourite garden store had a "tent sale" I was out of state when it started but when I got there there was still plenty and some new things each day as well which makes it more fun while there I got in total 4 walking onion plants 4 everbearing strawberries (that some want to produce fruit yet) 2 junebearing strawberries and a bunch of seeds an some more chemicals I don't think I even spent 20 there! Ill get the strawberry names later def

Also I have suffered some losses both from the greenhouses and from outside but ill get onto them in time first lets start with some garden pics (its now the next morning after a nap and needing to work tonight oh joy! Lol)

You can tell later in the night with the sun in the west --that's the salsa garden windowbox and my first goji that I got to try its fruit and they taste I think better sweeter then the outher plant which is like a pepper in a way

Mints and outher herb which is where some losses were running theory is root rot from lack of drainage but it didnt get many of the plants which is the corious part to me

The raspberry (and yes that little raspberry thing by the fence is still there)

Mostly tomatoes and peppers and you can better see the losses with the herb planter (needs the holes)

I think after the goji fruits it goes dormant till spring/better temps its still flexible which is only telling me its still alive

Can see the sun in the garden mostly here but there's some of a few pots

Another shot of the salsa garden my windowbox and the goji --those tomatillos are going *insane*! I'm eager to grow them again even if I somehow don't like them!

And here's a better shot of the herb container where you can clearly see some of my losses

Here's one pic of the tent sale onions and I think allstar? The ever bearing tomatoes as you can see they still want to produce! Which is perfectly fine by me as that means ill have that many more if I remember them lol those I got on one day with some myke brand rooting stuff (all for like 6? Bucks!) another day I got a whole *ton* of onion sets seed packets (quarter EACH!) and some dr good earths which was plenty enough to try if I liked it as a bug spray that day was a few bucks too and went to the outher location got some little flowering thing that I thought was cool 50 cents! And another time 2 junebearing strawberries and a few containers only another few bucks! This is why I love the tent sale so much because of all the cheap stuff that's still good and is very cool! It's well worth it to go really every day that its running just cause they do put "new" stuff out daily and you get great deals as well .50 cents per plant you see there a STEAL as normally 2-4 EACH

Ok on to the greenhouses?

Let's start with the old pics first shall we?

Again I have suffered a few losses in the greenhouses had a cottony white looking like mold on a couple plants the 100% dead were tossed (there in my sand bucket ATM so they may end up as starting fert will have to see)

The big stevia and rosemary are both gone by now (died)

And that shelf has been re-arranged some as well my moms cat knocked over the nip seeds I was trying to save!

And the bigger one it too has been re-arranged but really what I think I need to do is move it so everyone gets more light

There's the bottom shelf

And the last of the old pics for the greenhouses on to the new ones?!

The last 2 walking onions that I have to figure what to do with (may or may not be frost hardy in my containers don't wanna chance if not)

There's the greenhouses themselves the black bucket is still mostly sand the blue spraybottle has some mouthwash-water the pink topped is sevin the blue topped is peper/soap water and the rest is marked lol (I have those memorised so less fuss)

Just the one a friend got me for my birthday (talk about putting it to use huh? Lol)

And my moms

That front pot is the mint I started via winter sewing I had to move it and I don't think it's doing that well even now hopefully it improves soon!

Roses and I was wrong the junebearing are the all stars --it's said larger crop is junebearing longer crop is ever bearing so I want to get a good mix so I get both lol-- also the rose isn't looking so good eighter leaves are falling off and such which isn't good at all! I just don't want it to go outside its first year but I may be forced to and hope it can withstand our winter

The Basil's they too are dropping leaves so I hope they will come out fine if not maby re-potting them or just starting new plants would be better?

The tiny Tom tomato --I was told it wouldn't get taller but it is! So I'm not certain what to make of it but I'm certain it could stand to be replanted and even a bit deeper too (those white things are roots likely to get water from the humidity in the air!)

The fruit and one rooting planter again getting somewhat unwell but enough is staying alive for now I'm not too super worried ill see in time if I need to worry more or not and when I pull them to seperate that will be the real test of how they are (applies to the next pic too)

And there's both of them and you can even see an onion in the back!

Here's the strawberry after pulling it apart and replanting all the pups with momma but nolonger connected to her

If you look on that brown leaf you can see one example of the mold or whatever it is that I'm talking about

And there's another example on with these tomato seedlings (you can also see most of them have died on me)

Ok so here is what can fairly easily be seen of the top row that huge thing is patchouli a smell my uncle just loves and I'm glad to see it doing so well in this method!

2nd row as you can see failing stevia and rosemary that should be tossed apart from that everyone looks pretty good and the bay are even surprising me!

The everbearing strawberries as you can now clearly see I've moved nobody from there origonal pots only because I don't know where I'd move them to or how well they would do between shock from coming inside and shock from being moved

Some "water beads" that I expanded along with some seeds and similar such stuff lol

There's that perennial it's well past too late this year to plant but just look!

Here's the tag from the everbearing only proving the allstars are junebearing

By the way those pots say "it's from millaegers expect the best" great promotion for them especially when it's still true even at the end of the season for the prices these are still as good as what I'd buy at the beginning of the summer!

Now if nobody noticed I have in fact lost all 3 of my orchids I replanted my last one terribly and caused it to die from the root

Here is that myke stuff I mentioned I got 2 of them not knowing the reg price and figuring had to be atleast 3-4 reg

And here are the onion sets and seeds ATM I'm finding it funny I only have one pack of white onions but likely all the rest I looked at I didnt like much these all looked really good aka not many dead or that and some seed packs for stuff to try to grow as well (or split apart and trade or whatever)

And here's the pots the 2 wooden looking and ball like are from the tent sale the square were candles but didnt have the candle part so I got them a tad cheaper and thought they too would be great planters

So I'm happy/excited over my garden even with the losses as you learn new stuff every year like this year with working more fert with more plants and plant a TON sooner if starting with seedlings like we did also cage them and still not so many if you want a really good harvest! This is my first year with a job outside the garden

As a side thing the next thing I'm waiting for is the tropical sale where there 70% off I think ill take 20-30 bucks and see what I can get with it if I miss it then I miss it but I don't think I did yet pick up whatever even remotely sounds good to me from the selection that I can afford lol
